with all 75 puzzles for year 1 now published, and the subscription drive for year 2 in full swing, i thought it would be useful to write up a short summary of everything that's happening here in the next week or two.

this is the last puzzle of year 1 here at outside the box puzzles, but it's also a first, in the sense that it's a puzzle type i made up. i brought it to a boston-area puzzlers picnic yesterday and it was well received.
congrats to matthew grieco of brooklyn, the winner of the meta contest! matthew has won a free premium subscription to year 2 of outside the box puzzles.
solutions (including spoilers for the puzzle, obviously) after the jump.
still working on yesterday's postponed variety puzzle, but here's the rows garden.
the bad news is: there's no variety puzzle today. one of my test-solvers found a misspelling in the grid, and i didn't have enough time to fix it (it will involve redoing half the grid). so, sorry about that. i'm bummed, too.
can you believe we're up to puzzle #48? where has the year gone? as there are only a few weeks left in year 1 of outside the box puzzles, i thought it would be a good time to describe how this month is going to wind down.
two items of note in the puzzle world: first, lollapuzzoola 9 is coming up on august 13 in nyc. as always, it'll be a great time. i'll be there! will you?
second, loan shark games (mike selinker & friends) has an intriguing humble puzzle bundle on sale, with some fraction of the proceeds (you can decide how much) to charity. it's a ton of great puzzle books from top puzzlemakers at a pay-what-you-want price. check it out!
today i'm really pleased to bring you this challenging pathfinder puzzle that i co-constructed with andy kravis.
